Davis extends appreciation

(Snow Hill, North Carolina)–After canvassing votes from the 2008 North Carolina Democratic Primary Election held last Tuesday making the results official, Snow Hill Mayor Don Davis, who is a candidate for the North Carolina Senate, extends an appreciation to his supporters and other North Carolina Senate District 5 candidates.

“I thank our supporters for their incredible efforts in the 2008 Primary Election. We could not have had the highest number of votes in the race without your support. I also thank Kathy Taft, Ed Wilson, Tony Moore, Chuck Stone, and Charles Johnson for running good campaigns,” Davis stated.

Davis was the highest vote getter in Tuesday’s race with 36% of the votes followed by Taft with 24%.

“Under North Carolina law, we had to reach 40% to avoid a second primary election. We did’nt. Ms. Taft has announced her intent to call for a second primary election. We plan to continue working hard sharing our message with the residents of our district. I plan to win this runoff election. I ask for all residents to mark your calendar. Let’s do it again,” Davis added.

Early voting for the runoff election will begin on June 5, 2008 and remain open through June 21, 2008. Residents may vote early at their county board of elections office.

The Second Primary Election Day is scheduled for June 24, 2008. All polling places will be open from 6:30 am until 7:30 pm only on June 24, 2008 for voting.
