Winterville Mayor Pro Tem remembered  

(Snow Hill, North Carolina)–Snow Hill Mayor Don Davis issued the following statement:  ”I was deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected death of Winterville Mayor Pro Tem Velma Harper. She was a very skilled leader and loved the residents of Winterville. Velma loved her family. She devoted her life to education and service. ”We met years ago shortly after I was elected to my first term as mayor. We maintained contact over the years. In fact, we were just talking a few days ago. It was not uncommon for us to talk about our communities and various issues facing our residents. She wanted the best for Winterville.  ”Winterville has not only lost an outstanding leader, but I have lost a friend. I will miss her. However, I will always remember her warm smile and poise. My heartfelt condolence is expressed to her family and the residents of Winterville.”
